Claude Opus 5.5 in Kilo Code: API Setup with TeamoRouter (2026)

Short answer

Kilo Code is an open-source coding agent for VS Code and JetBrains, built on Cline. To run Claude Opus 5.5 in it:

Setting Value
API Provider Anthropic
API Key your TeamoRouter key
Use custom base URL checked, https://api.teamorouter.cn
Model Claude Opus 5.5 (claude-opus-5-5)

If your version doesn't list Opus 5.5 yet, use OpenAI Compatible instead: Base URL https://api.teamorouter.cn/v1, Model ID claude-opus-5-5.

Anthropic's list price for Opus 5.5 is $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. On TeamoRouter it is $1.14 / $5.72 right now, about 29% of list (live price on the model page). You pay per use with no subscription, by card.

Why pick the Anthropic provider

TeamoRouter takes both the Anthropic format (/v1/messages) and the OpenAI-compatible format (/v1/chat/completions), with the same models and prices. The difference for Opus 5.5 is prompt caching. In Anthropic format the agent can mark its system prompt, tool definitions and earlier turns for caching, and everything it resends is billed at the cache-read rate: $0.20 per million tokens at list price, 5% of normal input. The OpenAI format has no equivalent field, so the context a long agent session resends on every turn is billed as normal input.

Kilo Code resends a lot of context: the system prompt with tool definitions, open files and the conversation so far. Over a long task, the Anthropic provider can cut the input bill several times over. Use OpenAI Compatible only as a fallback.

Set up Kilo Code

Kilo Code opens with its own gateway selected, so switch the provider first:

  1. Open the Kilo Code panel and click the gear icon to open Settings.
  2. Under Providers, set API Provider to Anthropic.
  3. Paste your TeamoRouter key into the API key field. Create one in the TeamoRouter console if you don't have it yet.
  4. Check Use custom base URL and enter https://api.teamorouter.cn.
  5. In Model, pick Claude Opus 5.5, then save.

Send a short message to test it. A 404 usually means the path is off by /v1: try https://api.teamorouter.cn/v1 instead. If Claude Opus 5.5 isn't in the Model list, update Kilo Code to the latest version; if it still isn't there, switch the provider to OpenAI Compatible with Base URL https://api.teamorouter.cn/v1, your key, and Model ID claude-opus-5-5.

If you still use Roo Code, which is no longer maintained, its provider settings are the same.

Common errors

"thinking.type.disabled" is not supported for this model. The extension turned thinking off or set a fixed thinking budget. Anthropic states that thinking is always on for Opus 5.5 and is controlled through effort. Set the extension's thinking or reasoning option back to its default.

tool_choice: type "tool" and "any" are not supported for this model. Opus 5.5 only accepts auto and none for tool choice. Update the extension to its latest version.

404. The base URL has /v1 where it shouldn't, or the other way round. Try the other form.

401. The key is wrong or has a space or line break attached. Copy it again from the console.

What a session costs

A long agent task in Kilo Code often reads around 200k input tokens and writes around 20k. At Anthropic's list price that is $0.80 + $0.40 = $1.20; on TeamoRouter it's about $0.23 + $0.11 = $0.34, and less when the context is served from cache. For routine edits, switch the model to Claude Sonnet 5.5, which is half the price of Opus, and keep Opus 5.5 for the hard tasks.

Paying for usage

You top up a balance in the console and pay only for the tokens you use, with no subscription or monthly fee. The same key and balance work in Claude Code, Cline, Cursor and every other model on TeamoRouter.

  • Card: Visa, Mastercard and other major cards through Stripe.
